Abhinav Bindra is an Indian shooter and World and Olympic champion. By winning the gold medal in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he became the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympic Games. He is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna.
Innovaid took over the entire management and strategic direction of the Abhinav Bindra F0undation in 2011, handling all elements of the Foundation, including the recruitment and training of an in-house manager who sat in Chandigarh to oversee administrative elements of the Foundation.
As a key initiative to bring Abhinav’s dream to life, Innovaid facilitated the partnership with the British Council and British High Commission in the lead up to the 2012 London Olympic Games to conceptualise and execute:
- Olympic Values Education Program
- Olympic Roadshow of Events
Innovaid facilitated a new strategy and re-branding exercise for the Foundation to be in-line with Abhinav’s vision of nurturing talent and grassroots sports. Innovaid was also instrumental in launching the following programmatic initiatives as Dream Projects of Abhinav Bindra himself:
Olympic Values Education Program – Innovaid facilitated a strategic partnership with the British Council and coordinated the development and publishing of 2 x children’s books which were distributed throughout schools across India as part of a key curriculum:
- ‘India at the Olympic Games’
- ‘India’s Olympic Story’
Olympic Roadshow of Events – Innovaid facilitated a four city roadshow of events to exchange skills, generate awareness and support grassroots sport. This included:
- Development of an ‘Olympic Anthem’ in Kolkata by children affected by Leprosy,
- Slum Soccer Tournament and Dinner Auction in Chennai,
- Special Olympics in Mumbai,
- Mini Olympics and Sports Leadership Camp in Delhi.
